Application of pharyngeal flap for covering of congenital cleft palate

The article presents the results of surgical treatment of 40 patients with relapses of cleft palate. In 11 cases defects were covered by using different methods of plastic by local tissues, in 29 - defects were covered by flaps of back and laterals pharyngeal walls.
During control observing in long-term after operation in group of using local plastics methods we found three cases of relapses, main caution of its was disruption in wound area. In group of pharyngeal flaps group we found only one case of relapse, in view of inobservance of physicians prescriptions. Recovery of speech was significantly better in group of pharyngeal flaps.
