Clinical evaluation of efficacy, acceptance and metabolic influence of intrauterine contraception «T 380 C A» in women with diabetes mellitus type I

Studies have shown that the use of copper medicated intrauterine device (IUD) is highly effective and acceptable method of contraception for women with diabetes mellitus (DM) I type in the absence of contraindications, and careful monitoring of their general condition.

The most frequent side effects of the use of IUDs were menstrual disorders cycle as hyperpolimenorrhea and menorrhagia (30.6%) with possible development of anemia; vulvovaginitis (14.5%), expulsion (6.5%) and inflammatory disease of pelvis (4.8%). More of side effects were transient and did not require removal of the IUD. Removal for medical reasons was held 16.1% of women. The frequency of side effects and deletions IUD in women with type I diabetes is not exceeded that in the population, did not depend on the duration of the currency of DM, terms of its manifestations, the presence or absence of microangiopathy.
