This report presents the results of surgical treatment 118 patients with fractures of the clavicle, which were operated by the original method developed by the authors (n=60) and by the traditional standard technique (intramedullary wire fixation; n=58).

Hospital staying in the group of patients with standard fixationmethod was prolonged and there was noticeable longer inpatient treatment, but due to the large variation in terms statistically significant differences were not found (p>0,05).

The average time of hospital treatment in the control group was longer than that of patients in the main group. In our opinion, this is due to the fact that at study group patients become more active since the first day of the postoperative period, due to the structural features of the new method.

Evaluation of the immediate and remote results of operated patients with claviclefractures by a modified questionnaire Constant –MurleyShoulder in terms for 3,6,12 months after osteosynthesis showed good results in the study group in 55 (91,7%)cases, satisfactory and unsatisfactory – in 5 (8,3%). In the control group, good results were obtained in 39 (67,2%) patients, satisfactory and unsatisfactory - in 19 (20.3%).

Keywords: clavicle fracture, osteosynthesis technique, questionnaire Constant-Murley Shoulder.
