Cardiotoxic influence of polychemotherapy in patients with acute leukemia

The article provides an analysis of the literature regarding the cardiotoxicin fluence of chemotherapy in patients with acute leukemia. Particular attention is given to the toxic effects on the myocardium anthracycline antibiotics used in chemotherapy of malignant tumors (adriamycin, doxorubicin, and others) that lead to development of acute and chronic cardiotoxicity manifested as vasodilatation, hypotension, cardiac arrhythmias, myocarditis and cardiomyopathy.
Timely detection of cardiotoxic signs of myocardial injury and the appointment of the necessary therapy in conjunction with a cardiologist prevent the severe complications in patients with acute and chronic leukemia.
