Studied the antioxidant and prooxidant indicators of body systems in 150 pregnant women with diabetes. It is shown that in pregnant women, even in compensated diabetes activation of lipid peroxidation take place, which is an indirect confirmation of the increase of malondialdehyde level in blood serum. In response to that activity of the antioxidant system (AOS) is increasing, with the most significant increases observed in the indexes of enzymatic chain AOS- superoxide dismutase activity.

Indicators of non-enzymatic level AOS (antiradical activity, α-tocopherol, ascorbic acid, uric acid) is also risen, but remain significantly lower than the indicators of healthy women, there is a balance between the processes of lipid peroxidation and AOS preserved.

Joining of obstetric pathology (hypertensive complications, placental insufficiency) is accompanied by enhanced free radical processes and decreased activity of antioxidant defenses and lead to oxidative stress.

Keywords: diabetes mellitus, lipid peroxidation, antioxidant protection, pregnancy.
