Presented materials of investigation of contents in blood serum protein fractions by technique of electrophoresis on cellulose acetate in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and pneumonia. Revealed increasing of control values α2-fraction 31.3% 42.8%; 40.0%; 26.7%; 36.2% with pneumonia, COPD I - IV degree, respectively (p <0.001).

We came to conclusion that definition of α2-globulin fraction is an effective and low-cost way to evaluate antiprotease activity in blood serum of patients with acute exacerbation of COPD and pneumonia.

In the fraction of γ-globulin in patients with COPD is noted the reverse tendency: lower percentages compared with the control to 89.1%, 83.8%, 80.0% and 65.2% in patients with I - IV stage of the disease, respectively (p < 0.001). The severity of γ-globulins deficit, and proportion of patients with immunodeficiency increases with decrease in respiratory function. For pneumonia values of γ-fraction contrary increased to control values for 22%, which corresponded to an acute inflammatory process and the intensity of humoral immunity in the body.

Keywords: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pneumonia, protein fraction, blood serum, secondary immunodeficiency.
