The epidemic features of HIV infection in Tajikistan

As the study results show in Tajikistan the trend of transition of HIV infection from a concentrated to generalized stage. HIV infection exits beyond traditional vulnerable groups (injecting drug users, sex workers). In the area of coverage of HIV are increasingly young persons of working age (20 - 39) – 77,9%, pregnant women – 14,0% - 25,0%, the wives of migrant workers (6,2% - 9,1%) and prisoners – 6,2% - 14,0%.
For reducing the incidence of HIV infection in Tajikistan mass propaganda of population to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, involving the general population into prevention activities, particularly for vulnerable groups, including the expansion of the coverage of testing is needed.
