The authors conducted an investigation of 101 patients with middle and old age with a clinical picture of acute gastroduodenal bleeding ulcer etiology.

It is found recurrent bleeding ulcers proceed on the back wall of duodenal bulb, as well as from small curvature’s ulcers especially in its cardiac and subcardiac localization. In ulcer sizes up to 1.0 cm rebleeding was observed in 40.6% of patients, the same indicant for ulcers more than 1.0 cm - at 59.4%. Consequently, the size of the ulcer is one of the most important factors determining the possibility of bleeding recurrence in these patients.

The study showed talong with the size of ulcers, the presence of loose fresh blood clot or thrombosed vessels in the ulcer is a predictor of risk bleeding recurrence of gastroduodenal ulcers in patients with middle and old age.

Keywords: gastroduodenal ulcer, gastrointestinal bleeding, peptic ulcer disease.
