Choice of surgical treatment of patients with pilonidal fistula

The results of surgical treatment 106 patients with pilonidal fistula (PF) were analyzed in article. The authors proposed an improved method of surgical treatment of patients with PF.
Patients were divided into 2 groups: 52 patients in main group underwent to surgical treatment with method developed by authors with primary reconstruction of continuity of intergluteal tissue and a control group (54 patients) - with use of traditional methods.
Proposed modification allowed to smoothen of intergluteal fold, improve wound healing, with a satisfactory cosmetic result, which ultimately reduce the incidence of postoperative suppurative complications from 14.8% to 7,7% compared and recurrence of disease with traditional methods.
