Cardiovascular risk factors in gout

N.H. Khamidov, S.M. Shukurova, H.K. Toirov, J.H. Dzhonnazarova

The most characteristic cardiovascular risk factors in patients with gout, along with age, are increasing the levels of total cholesterol (in 89,3% of patients), lower HDL cholesterol (from 60,7%), obesity (at 85,7%) and hypertension (in 57,1%). Because patients with gouty arthritis have complex disorders, leading to the appearing of cardiovascular catastrophes, it is useful to evaluate the total coronary risk. The value of total coronary risk correlated with indicators reflecting the severity of gout: the duration of the disease, the number of affected joints, as well as the number of attacks of gouty arthritis in the last year of the disease.

Keywords: gout, cardiovascular risk factors, coronary heart disease.
