Actual issues of effect of video display terminals on the vision

Problems of occupational users of video displays are among the most urgent problems of modern medicine as well as continually expanding the scope of computer technology and the rapid growth of the contingent of people involved in this process.

This review presents various aspects of the effects of video display terminals in the eyes of man, from asthenopia manifestations to objective changes in the visual system. However, still more research is needed to establish the criteria for safety and hygiene standards when working with computers, as well as prevention of violations of human visual function, especially in children.
