Diagnostic and tactical mistakes in the neurovascular bundle injuries of the upper extremities in children
In the article the causes and significance of diagnostic and tactical mistakes in 93 children with injuries of neurovascular bundles of the upper extremities were studied. From them, 60 children admitted directly into a specialized medical centers, while 33 children initially examined by general practitioners and by physicians on duty during which revealed the diagnostic and tactical mistakes. Comparative analysis of surgical treatment of these patients showed that the errors significantly influence on the duration of surgery (2.5 times longer) and length of treatment in view of what was required to perform reconstructive surgery, and therefore on the outcome.
