Authors investigated the efficacy of combination of prebiotic pectin with ciprofloxacin in the treatment of 18 patients with acute dysentery. The purpose of suchcombination was to neutralize for the short time the main manifestations of disease with a maximal restoration of the colon’s functional state.
The concentration of ciprofloxacin in the blood and feces in presence of prebiotic in a complex treatment averaged respectively was 42,2±3,9 mg/l and 51,9±4,2 mg/l, than in mono using of ciprofloxacin – 2,5±0,3 mg/l and 5,0±0,4 mg/l, respectively, which resulted in faster clinical recovery of patients with extinction symptoms of main infection process and thus reduce of hospital stay for 2,5±0,4 days.
