Medical and social characteristics of reproductive age women suffering with diabetes mellitus
A prospective study of 933 women of reproductive age suffering with diabetes were performed. The main medical and social factors were: 70% of women with type 1 diabetes were in the active reproductive age, with type 2 diabetes - 90% in late reproductive age living in rural areas (2/3), educational level and marital status, genetic factors ( 37-61%), disease duration (more than 5 years) and presence of vascular complications of diabetes (60%), low level of awareness about the lifestyle and contraception, large families, high incidence of menstrual function disorders and obstetric complications. These data are the basis for the introduction of modern technologies providing obstetrical care to women with diabetes.
